As the COVID 19 cases are increasing worldwide, the need for disposable gowns has double overtime. Everyone, from the healthcare workers to the patients is in dire need of disposable isolation gowns. The protective disposable surgical clothes are classified based on 4 levels of protection, and it can be challenging to decide which disposable gown will be able to fulfil your medical needs.
Here’s a detailed guide about the four levels of protection that is offered by which disposable clothes.
Level 1 of disposable surgical clothes
Disposable gown offering level 1 protection
provides minimum protection against the potential threats and can be suitable
for healthcare workers offering basic services and are not in immediate need of
sterile surgical clothes. Disposable gowns provide slight protection against the
fluids, but these clothes are not adequate for ICUs, blood draws, and pathology
labs.
Level 2 of disposable surgical clothes
Disposable clothes offering level 2
protection is ideal for minor risk situations such as blood draws or for
healthcare workers who are attending to the patients in the ICU or the
pathology labs. Level 2 disposable gowns are tested by pressuring the materials
used to manufacture the disposable gowns and bring them in contact with water.
Level 3
of disposable surgical clothes
Level 3 disposable gown is suitable for
minor risk tasks like working with IVs; blood draws from the arteries and the
ER. Level 3 disposable gowns go through the same testing procedures as the
level 2 disposable gowns, and they are effective against soaking and splatter.
Level 4 of disposable surgical clothes
Level 4 of disposable gowns provide the
highest protection level to the patients and the healthcare workers. These
types of disposable clothing provide ultimate protection during medical
procedures such as performing surgery in the theatre and against the threat of
the COVID 19 pandemic. Level 4 disposable gowns are suitable for heavy-duty use
and can be effective in preventing the penetration of viruses and fluids. These
disposable gowns are subjected to extreme testing procedures such as simulating
the blood carrying any virus.
